ok i'll start this game off
the first person to get the correct answer gets to make up the next round
you have to give 4 clues to who what or were and every other day you need to give 1 more clue as to the answer with out giving it away if the clues don't get a correct answer after 1 week then that clue giver can claim winner and start a new who what or were if they so choice or they can go for another week
weeks will run 7 days from start of first guess

1) I am nearly 3,000,000 square miles in size.

The Amazon Basin, the largest drainage basin in the world, covers about 40 percent of South America, an area of approximately 7,050,000 square kilometres (2,720,000 sq mi). It gathers its waters from 5 degrees north latitude to 20 degrees south latitude. Its most remote sources are found on the inter-Andean plateau, just a short distance from the Pacific Ocean.

2) I was Vital for the Allies during WW2.

Wary of foreign exploitation of the nation's resources, Brazilian governments in the 1940s set out to develop the interior, away from the seaboard where foreigners owned large tracts of land. The original architect of this expansion was President Getúlio Vargas, the demand for rubber from the Allied forces in World War II providing funding for the drive. At the time the Asian sources for rubber were controlled by the Japanese.

3) half the population of the entire country that I'm in lives in one of my cities.

4) There is a dispute between two continents over one of my features.

While the Amazon is the largest river in the world by most measures, the current consensus within the geographic community holds that the Amazon is the second longest river, just slightly shorter than the Nile. However, some scientists, particularly from Brazil and Peru, dispute this.

Water testing done in 2009 by Amica Research has shown the water level to be at a 7.5, one of the cleanest water sources in the world.

For the last century the length of the Amazon and the Nile Rivers have been in a tight battle for title of world's longest river. The exact length of the two rivers varies over time and reputable sources disagree as to their actual length. The Nile River in Africa is reported to be anywhere from at 5,499km/3,437mi to 6,690km/4,180mi long And The Amazon 6,259 km/3,889 mi to 6,712 km/4,171 mi. But there is no question as to which of the two great rivers carries the greater volume of water - the Amazon River.

The quantity of water released by the Amazon to the Atlantic Ocean
is enormous: up to 300,000 cubic meters per second (11,000,000 cu ft/s)
in the rainy season, with an average of 209,000 cubic meters per second
(7,400,000 cu ft/s) from 1973 to 1990. The Amazon is responsible for about 20% of the Earth's freshwater entering the ocean. The river pushes a vast plume of freshwater into the ocean. The plume is
about 400 kilometers (250 mi) long and between 100 and 200 kilometers
(62 and 120 mi) wide. The freshwater, being lighter, overrides the salty
ocean, diluting the salinity and altering the color of the ocean
surface over an area up to 1,000,000 square miles (2,600,000 km2) large.

5) I have salt that is over 1/3 of a mile thick

The Amazon basin has not always been an area of lush tropical rainforest. At several times during its history, the basin has been the location of huge lakes and shallow seas. Salt deposits up to 600 meters thick (nearly 2000 feet!) have also been found in some locations, indicating that at one time, the basin may have been desert-like, drying up the shallow seas and creating the salt deposits.

6) I have sand dunes over 1/3 of a mile long

Would you believe that the Amazon has its own sand dunes? Echogrammes of the river bed below the mouth of the Rio Negro show giant sand dunes as long as 600 meters (2000 feet) and up to 12 meters (39 feet) in height. These dunes are gradually moved downstream in the same manner that wind moves sand-dunes in "true" deserts!

One of my features is the Amazon Rain forest, The largest rain forest in the world

One of my features is the Largest river in the world The Amazon river some of it's tributaries are The Amazon has over 1,100 tributaries, 17 of which are over 1,500 kilometres (930 mi) long.[29] Some of the more notable ones are: Branco, asiquiare canal, Caqueta River, Huallaga, Putumayo (or Içá River), Javary, Jurua, Madeira, Marañón, Morona, Nanay, Napo, Negro, Pastaza, Purus, Tambo, apajós,
Tigre, Tocantins, Trombetas, Ucayali, Xingu, Yapura.
